Join our 2010 WOG conference as a presenter!
Share your skills, knowledge,
or experience
at our fourth WOG conference
October 22-24, 2010
at Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in
W. Hartford, CT
Weaving Our Gifts is a conference based on a model of collegial presentations. Through the sharing of our studies or experiences as catechists, everyone will gain a rich exposure to new information. Collegial sharing offers the possibility for all attendees to be active participants. There are various ways for you to share your experiences: posters, displays, demonstrations, short presentations, longer topic exploration, and moderated discussions. So plan on participating in Weaving Our Gifts, since each catechist willing to share ideas enriches the conference.
Call for Presenting Participants
We would like to invite experienced catechists to consider areas of expertise that have served them in their atrium or atrium community, or that they have developed through their catechesis experience. Past presenters have created presentations calling on their varied skills, including: backgrounds in dance, art or music; insights into serving children with disabilities or with special needs; backgrounds in theology, Scripture, or liturgy; experiences integrating children into the Sunday liturgy; formal training in the Montessori method; or, experience using CGS to serve adults or youth in their communities. We welcome presentation suggestions on all of these topics, and more!
Returning presenters are welcome to re-present the same material or a modification of it at the conference. Participants always complain that there is so many wonderful presentations going on at the same time, that it's difficult to decide which to attend!

Consider sharing the gift of your knowledge, skill, or expertise at Weaving Our Gifts in one of the following ways:
-
30 or 60 minute paper or presentation (30 minute presentations will be paired with another similarly themed presentation.)
-
60 minute moderated discussion. You may suggest a topic and volunteer to lead the discussion, or ask us to find a facilitator.
-
90 minute hands-on workshop, mini-class, or in-depth demonstration on topics such as liturgical dance, art, music, cosmic education, etc.
-
Show and tell. There will be one show and tell session when catechists with something easily shared as a poster, handout or small display will set up in a space for participants to wander through. Presenters will be available to answer questions, but do not make a formal presentation.

Join our Keynote Speaker:
Rabbi Nancy Fuchs Kreimer, Ph.D.
Educating Passionate Christians in a World of Religious Diversity
Educating Passionate Christians in a World of Religious Diversity will lay the Biblical, theological, and sociological groundwork for catechists to affirm themselves as committed Christians in a world of religious diversity, be able to articulate this for themselves and parents and parish staff they work with, and consider the implications for their work with children ages 3-12.
Rabbi Nancy Fuchs Kreimer, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Professor of Jewish Studies, City College of New York, as well as the director of MultifaithStudies and initiatives at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Pennslyvania.
