Calling all Writers

Our newest publication at the Center for Children and Theology, Occasional Papers, offers a forum for exploring topics related to CCT's mission in greater depth.  This embaces topics such as child development, scripture, sacramental theology, moral formation, application of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in a variety of settings or denominations, or any of the themes of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Susan Piescik, Laura Kintz, and Catherine Maresca are our editors for Occasional Papers. They are helping writers prepare papers for publication. Laura brings to the task her professional editing background. Susan brings a great breadth of knowledge and ability to edit for clarity of ideas. Catherine screens and chooses papers for publication. All three have completed the three Catechesis of the Good Shepherd courses and worked with children in the atrium for several years.

Writers will be paid $100/paper, 5-10 pages in length. If you have a paper you think might be appropriate please contact CCT for evaluation. If your paper is chosen we may ask you to nuance it for our readers, helping them to connect it to their work.

About the Authors

She studied the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd with Rebekah Rojcewicz and Sofia Cavalletti. She has been a catechist since 1983 and has been leading formation courses for adults around the U.S. as well as at the Center since 1987.

  • Millicent Adams Dosh, MA, is a Montessori educator and post-partum doula. This Article was presented at the First Conference on the Ethics of Parenting held by the Center for Applied Ethics, Pace University, New York City, February 1999.

  • Sofia Cavalletti is an internationally know biblical scholar and a founder of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. For over 45 years, she and her co-worker, Gianna Gobbi, have developed the catechesis by observing and working with children between the ages of three and twelve. Dr. Cavalletti lives in Rome.

  • Pamela Mader grew up in Kentucky, earned a B.S. in Special Education, an Associates in Bible, and taught a few years in public school. Her focus changed to full time inner city ministry and after seven years, she was introduced to Catechesis of the Good Shepherd by her partner Mary Lawrence Woodhull. Together they have developed a multi-denominational atrium over the last three years which serves children aged 3 to 9. Pam's goal is to bring all the beauty and resources of CGS across denominational, racial, and cultural lines to Knoxville's inner city.

  • Genelda Woggon has been ministered to by children for over 40 years in her professional work as a Christian Formation Leader in the Episcopal Church, especially through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in recent years. She is trained in all three levels of the work and is a nationally certified formation leader for Level I. She lives in Asheville, NC with her husband Harry who is a retired Episcopal priest. Together they share a joint position at St. George's Episcopal Church, he as Priest in Charge and Genelda as Lay Associate. They have four adult children and four grandchildren.

  • Rabbi Marcia Prager is a vibrant Reconstructionist/Jewish Renewal teacher, storyteller, artist and therapist living and working in the Mt. Airy community of Philadelphia. Her book, The Path of Blessing is an exploration of the profound spiritual wisdom that lies in the Jewish practice of blessing.

  • Pam Moore is the Director of Children's Formation at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Evanston, IL. In addition to being a catechist, formation leader and writer, Pam offers atrium-based family events at the beginning of each liturgical season.
