Echoes image         The freedom of the children of God is rooted in the freedom of God. Studying with Black theologians at Howard University Divinity School opened my eyes to the centrality of freedom in Sacred History. We begin with God who is free. Creation, sacred history, the church, and the Word of God reveal God to us yet we remain aware that God is not entirely captured by them. While we need signs such as Sabbath, bread and wine, or water, to know God-with-us, God is never limited to these signs, and is free to use other ways to communicate and act in our lives......

Freedom is an essential theme of the content of Christianity. According to Sofia Cavalletti the method of catechesis must match its content. Freedom must be lived as well as taught. Our churches and our atriums should be places of "the glorious freedom of the children of God."  As advocates and catechists of the children in the church we can strive to bring Paul's words to life for them.
